Yangon is of the most busy and exciting cities of Myanmar. A city so full of live, character, enriched with beautiful sites and so many interesting things to do, see and eat is a must place to go. When you go to a city, it’s not a must to go and see just the famous things, the beauty lies with exploring the smallest things of the place. To walk around on foot and witnessing the beauty the place holds within your own eyes.

Yangon as mentioned above, it’s a very rich city when it comes to liveliness. So, here are a number of things which you could do in Yangon.

  1. Shwedagon Pagoda:

    There is absolutely no doubt that Shwedagon Pagoda is one of the most important religious sites in Yangon. The golden chedi of the Pagoda, reaching a height of 99 meters, when shimmers in the sun gets visible throughout the city. The chance of seeing so much gold in a blink is itself a very exciting thing.

    The Shwedagon Pagoda is a very sacred religious pilgrimage site and a very well preserved heritage monument for number of Buddhist followers in Myanmar. If you go to this place, you will get see to people performing a series of rituals all according to the day they were born. They also walk round the base of the pagoda. All of this, and seeing every bit of this, it’s a very beautiful site.

  2. Chinatown Yangon:

    Chinatown in Yangon is an area from 24th to 18th street, lies in the west of Pagoda in downtown Yangon. It’s one of the busiest and action packed areas of Yangon, especially in the evening when the sides of the street teamed up with food stalls and begin to serve rice congee, grilled pork skewers and many more things. The 20th street is famous for its Chinese food which is mentioned above. And when it comes to 19th street, it’s known for amazing barbecue and things ready to be barbecued up. Just go there, grab a table at any restaurant, choose the skewers you like to have, sit back and relax while your food gets prepared.
  3. Kandawgyi Park:
    Kandawgyi Lake Yangon
    When it comes to the downtown area of Yangon, it’s very chaotic actually, full of energy and people, and you will never see a quiet dull moment here. Kandawgyi Park is a lush green lake park in Yangon. On the east side of the park, there are number of restaurants which includes the Karaweik Palace too. In these restaurants, you can go and have drinks. They offer a very pleasant lake view. If you love calmness and love to relax, this is the most perfect place for you. With such a beautiful view to watch and having food side by side is something we all would love to do. Go in the morning and stay there till evening and watch the sunset, with the lake showing the reflection of sun while it goes down, it’s going to leave you speechless.
